Mauritius Police officer suspended in possession of Rs 1.5 million of cocaine

A police officer suspended since 2016 was arrested by the ADSU Flying Squad at his home in Cascavelle, with around 105 grams of cocaine worth Rs 1.5 million seized.

Investigators from the Flying Squad of the Anti Drug and Smuggling Unit apprehended Georges Elvis Finniss, a police officer suspended from duty, during an operation at his home in Cascavelle on Friday. He was subjected to a body search during which the police discovered in his possession a black pouch containing several resealable transparent plastic bags, each containing a certain quantity of a substance suspected of being cocaine. Around 105 grams of cocaine were seized from him, estimated at Rs 1.5 million. He was detained for drug trafficking.

The police officer has been suspended since 2016, after being arrested in a case of "exposing child to harm".
